🎸 April Rockin’ Roundup

Easter Break and Big Plans! 🎸

April began with a bang and ended with a breather — a well-earned Easter break giving everyone time to reset, recharge and get ready for an exciting Summer Term ahead. And what a term it's shaping up to be! We’re beyond excited to announce…

🌞 The First-Ever Music Evermore Summer Festival!

Taking place on Sunday 13th July at South West Cricket Club in the heart of Chorlton, this special event will bring together 11 young acts for an afternoon of:

  • 🎤 Live music

  • 🍔 BBQ

  • 🍹 Drinks

  • 🛍️ Community stalls

  • ☀️ (Hopefully) sunshine!

🎟️ Tickets are available on a £5 suggested donation basis, and every penny goes towards keeping Music Evermore thriving.

We’d love to see the whole community there, rocking out to the music our young people have worked so hard to create!

🙏 Huge thanks to wifi provider BRSK, our Mainstage Sponsor, for helping us hire in proper professional equipment to make the sound absolutely brilliant.

🎤 Wythenshawe Forum Sessions

Funded by Manchester City Council’s Neighbourhood Investment Fund

We kicked off the Summer term in style with a visit from BBC Radio Manchester! They interviewed Director Chris Maddon, tutor Harry, and our 4pm Monday group — who were brilliant ambassadors for Music Evermore.

It’s all great timing after last month’s Media Cubs sessions gave students a crash course in interview and filming skills!

  • 5pm group: Already working on two songs for the Summer Festival

  • Tuesday 4pm & 5pm groups: Back with fresh faces and new material — full steam ahead!

🏫 Peel Hall Primary School

Funded by Heist or Hit

All classes are working harder than ever, improving musical theory and building a real repertoire.

  • 🎸 Most groups can now play two full songs!

  • 🎵 1-to-1 lessons are going well, especially with tab and Rockschool RSL graded material reading

  • 🎤 Rock Band and Choir resume this term, working on fresh tunes for the Summer show!

🏫 Claremont Primary School

Funded by Heist or Hit

This month marked a key shift in approach: moving away from student-chosen songs (which were great for identity, but trickier for cohesion), and switching to material from the We Will Rock You Project manual.

  • Two groups are learning Shotgun by George Ezra

  • Two groups are rocking We Will Rock You by Queen

The result? Much better engagement, teamwork and fun!
Meanwhile, our nurture group continues their instrumental exploration of ukulele and glockenspiel, with interrelational skill-building baked in.

🏫 Webster Primary School

Funded by Rising Tide AI

After a huge end-of-term performance in March, Webster students are going even bigger!

This term’s theme: The Beatles!

  • Twist & Shout

  • Here Comes the Sun

  • Yellow Submarine

  • Hey Jude (big group finale!)

It’s shaping up to be a joyful term of classic hits and big energy.

🏫 St Mary’s Primary School

Funded by Rising Tide AI

April began with a fantastic end-of-term performance in front of parents and peers.

  • Group 1: Sunflower and Stargazing

  • Group 2: Another One Bites the Dust and Watermelon Sugar

They absolutely smashed it — and now they’re already working on Happy and Higher Ground for the Summer Festival!

🥁 Saturday Band Sessions – Stretford

Funded by public donors, John Thomson, and the Sale & Altrincham Good Afternooners Women’s Institute

Our Saturday groups are back and hard at work on their Summer Festival setlists:

  • 11am group: Believer and Lucky Man

  • 12pm group: Creative jams and Come Together

  • 1pm group: Paper Planes, featuring Jasmine on vocals!

  • 2pm group: No Surprises and Molly’s Chambers, with Gille’s vocals elevating the vibe

  • 3pm group: Having a blast with Happy — great teamwork!
