🎸 Music Evermore Rockin’ Roundup — September 2025
We’re back for a brand-new academic year after what’s been a busy Summer of workshops, festivals, and gigs for our brilliant students and tutors!
🏆 Music Evermore Finalists at the Manchester Culture Awards!
We’re over the moon to share that Music Evermore CIC has been nominated for the prestigious Manchester Culture Awards 2025 and selected as finalists in the category Igniting Creativity – Culture, Education & Talent Development. The finals take place on Saturday 22nd November at The Deansgate Hotel.
To be recognised as a finalist means so much — it’s a huge testament to all the hard work from our incredible tutors, our young musicians, and of course, our funders who make all of this possible. Thank you for helping us keep music alive in our communities. Wish us luck!
🎶 Park View Academy, Miles Platting
Funded by Heist or Hit
We’re thrilled to welcome Park View Academy into the Music Evermore family this term! After setting up the new music space, the excitement was sky-high as pupils got their hands on guitars, keyboards, microphones, and drums for the very first time.
Key Stage 2 students have been learning guitar basics — from string names and frets to their first chords — and already putting them together to perform We Will Rock You! Some groups have moved on to Songbird and are preparing to tackle a Halloween favourite, Ghostbusters.
Key Stage 1 pupils have been exploring rhythm, pulse, and pitch through percussion and singing activities, including the stomp-clap pattern of We Will Rock You with plenty of energy and smiles.
A brand-new Tuesday morning club is also launching this term, offering an extra opportunity for budding young musicians to shine.
🎤 Seymour Road Academy, Clayton
Funded by Rising Tide AI
A huge welcome too to Seymour Road Academy, where music has burst into life across the school!
Year 2 pupils have been working hard on How Far I’ll Go from Moana, learning rhythm and ensemble skills through clapping games and musical teamwork. Year 4 have been busy learning Watermelon Sugar, focusing on time-keeping, rhythmic patterns, and listening to each other to create tight performances.
Meanwhile, Year 6 are studying Counting Stars, learning to identify song sections and transitions while performing as a full band. The after-school clubs are thriving, with older pupils developing confidence and younger ones eager to join in next half-term. Fantastic work all round!
🎸 Peel Hall Primary Academy, Wythenshawe
Funded by Heist or Hit
It’s been a great return to term at Peel Hall! This year, EYFS pupils have joined the timetable for the first time — exploring rhythm and song through nursery rhymes, actions, and games to build early confidence in music.
Key Stage 1 are refining their singing voices and ensemble performance through songs like Beautiful Things, while developing rhythm and phrasing skills. Year 2 are taking it up a notch by performing without backing tracks, showing off their ability to follow live instruments and sing from memory.
Across KS2, pupils are diving deeper into music knowledge and performance:
Year 3 are mastering We Will Rock You and ready for new challenges.
Year 4 are exploring the history of modern pop through The Beatles.
Year 5 are diving into the synth-wave sounds of the 1980s with Soft Cell.
Year 6 are studying song structure and performance through Photograph by Ed Sheeran.
1-to-1 lessons are off to a great start, with many students working towards graded exams later this year. The school’s Rock Band and Choir have kicked things off with Crazy and Young Volcanoes — sounding brilliant already!
Principal, Amy Tatham says “The music sessions at Peel Hall Primary Academy are a highlight for the children. Each week the pupils look forward to their lessons and engage with such enthusiasm. It’s wonderful to see their excitement as they explore new sounds and skills. Parents have also shared how much their children talk about and enjoy these lessons at home. These sessions are not just teaching music - they’re inspiring creativity, confidence and a love of learning throughout the school.”

Our Forum groups have a packed calendar this term, including upcoming performances with Brighter Sound as part of their Amplify nights in October and December.

Monday 5PM Group: This returning band is perfecting last year’s songs with a sharp focus on stagecraft and performance detail, and they’ll be branching into country music next to expand their repertoire.
Tuesday 4PM Group: Back together and bonding fast, the group is diving into My Chemical Romance, exploring power chords, heavy rhythms, and punchy drum beats to channel their inner emo energy.
Tuesday 5PM Group: Working on Another One Bites the Dust, this group has chosen a classic that’s pushing their playing and rhythmic skills to the next level — building confidence and teamwork as they go.
🎵 Saturday Band Sessions — We Will Rock You Project
Funded by public donors, John Thomson, and Sale & Altrincham Good Afternooners Women’s Institute
Our Saturday bands have kicked off the term with exciting new material and are already rehearsing for upcoming gigs. One group has focused on Bohemian Like You, Watermelon Sugar, and We Will Rock You, showing huge improvements in confidence, musicianship, and teamwork.
Meanwhile, another group has developed a high-energy, rocked-up version of Pink Pony Club, and are now moving on to Beat It! The chemistry in this band is fantastic — strong communication, solid drumming, and great vocal collaborations are driving their progress and making rehearsals a real joy.
💖 A huge thank you
As always, we’d like to say a massive thank you to our incredible funders and supporters — Heist or Hit, Rising Tide AI, Manchester City Council’s Neighbourhood Investment Fund, public donors, John Thomson, and the Sale & Altrincham Good Afternooners WI — as well as all the schools, tutors, and families who make this journey possible.
Here’s to another amazing term of music-making, creativity, and community. Rock on! 🤘
